Canada’s first AIDS vaccine approved human trials

Canada University of Western Ontario announced on 20th AIDS vaccine developed by the school access to United States food and Drug Administration approval, will be launched in 2012 humans testing its AIDS prevention effects. This is Canada’s first AIDS vaccine development.


  The school team with gene technology AIDS virus type 1, so that it does not have the pathogenicity, then preparing vaccines. Preliminary pharmacological experiment results show that the vaccine stimulate a strong immune response, played the role of AIDS prevention, and there were no side effects.


  New vaccines and after human trials of AIDS vaccine, which is either based on a specific component of the AIDS virus, vaccine made of antigens by recombinant DNA technology or are made to carry the AIDS virus gene recombinant virus vaccines.


  Human trials of new vaccines is divided into 3 stages. First stage began in January 2012, by 40 volunteers in HIV-positive, assessment of vaccines on human security. Phase II will be by about 600 names belonging to AIDS high risk population, but not yet living with volunteers, assess vaccine to the body’s immune response. Third stage by about 6,000 names belonging to AIDS high risk population, but not yet living with volunteers, assess the effectiveness of vaccines.
